Cees van Casteren MW is consultant, wine writer and freelance journalist. Decided to begin for himself in 2003 after a previous life in flavours & fragrances and enological products at DSM. In his last position for the enology group he was globally responsible for enological specialties like yeasts, enzymes and bacteria and based in Servian, South of France.
Cees was editor of wine magazine Proefschrift in 2003 and from 2004 to 2009 editor of Perswijn’s Supplements. He has a weekly column in newspaper De Gelderlander and is correspondent for Meininger’s Wine Business International.
Cees teaches WSET courses at Wijnstudio and Winefields and his own wine courses on request. Among his consultant clients are the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of The Netherlands and Lallemand of Canada.
Cees won twice the Dutch wine tasting championships ‘Prix Pommery’ and received Southcorp’s Writer’s Bursary in 2003. He became Ambassadeur du Champagne in 2008, won the Torres Wine Course in 2007 en wrote ten books (all in Dutch language) since 2004:

Cees became Master of Wine in November 2012. He is currently Chairman of the Association of Vinologists in Holland. He travelled extensively to vineyards on five continents and has a passion for the Italian cuisine. He has a daughter: Emma.
